If you suspect mice in your home, there are several telltale signs to watch for. One of the most common indicators is the presence of small, dark droppings that resemble grains of rice, often found in kitchen drawers, cupboards, or along baseboards. You might also notice gnaw marks on food packaging, wires, or furniture, as mice constantly chew to keep their teeth from overgrowing. Scratching or scurrying sounds inside walls or ceilings—especially at night—are another strong clue. Mice often build nests out of shredded paper, fabric, or insulation, typically hidden behind appliances or inside wall cavities. You may also see greasy smudge marks along walls, left by their oily fur as they travel along familiar routes. A strong, musky odor in enclosed areas can signal an active infestation, and if you have pets, they might act unusually fixated on certain spots. Spotting any of these signs means it’s time to take action before the problem worsens.
